Gate Repair Before & After in University Park, TX
Photos don’t need a sales pitch. A gate that was dragging on its hinge post, or a weld that let go, either got fixed right or it didn’t. These are the jobs we see most often in University Park. Some took an hour, some took an afternoon. All of them are still working. Hal Gatewood wouldn’t put his name on the page if they weren’t.
Recent Transformations
Single Swing Gate, Hinge Post Rebuild

A gate sags in the hinge post, not in the middle, and that is where we start. This one had settled enough that the latch missed its catch by an inch and a half. We cut the post free, poured a new footing, welded the hinge tabs back square, and rehung the gate. It clears the ground by four inches now, and it stays where you leave it.
Motor Failure on a LiftMaster Slider

The motor was running but the gate wasn’t moving. Gear inside had stripped clean. Hal carries LiftMaster parts on the truck, so the swap happened same day. New gear set, fresh chain tension, and reprogrammed the soft start and stop so it doesn’t jerk. The week after, the homeowner called back just to say the gate was quieter than it had been in three years.
Broken Weld on a Steel Driveway Gate

Show me the gate closing on its own and I’ll show you where it’s failing. This one had a weld break at the top rail, letting the gate lean hard against the post every time the wind caught it. We brought the welder to the driveway, burned the joint back together, and added a plate for reinforcement. The gate never left the property. It closes square again.
Ghost Controls Keypad Install and Wiring

The old keypad worked when it felt like it. Wiring was corroded inside the conduit. Hal’s crew pulled fresh wire, mounted the new Ghost Controls keypad, and reconnected the safety edges so the gate reverses if blocked. We test it three times before we leave. Safety edges are not a place to cut corners, and we won’t.
Driveway Gate Leveling After Lawn Settlement

Texas clay shifts, and it takes gate posts with it. The gate wasn’t just sagging, the whole post had moved three degrees off plumb. Fix the panel without the post and you’ll fix it twice. We reset the post in packed gravel and concrete, then re-trued the gate to the new line. There’s a lifetime of adjustment left in the hinges now.
FAAC Ram Rebuild on an Automatic Gate

The gate pushed open fine but barely pulled closed. That’s a ram losing pressure. We pulled the FAAC piston, replaced the seals, and set the pressure back to factory spec. Most companies would have sold a whole new actuator. This one cost a fraction of that and runs like new. That’s the repair-first difference Hal’s been doing since 2001.
